How a Southern California Couple is Helping Wildfire Victims by Opening Their Home

As wildfires ravaged communities in Southern California, residents from across the region came together to support those affected. Among them, Cheyenne and Zach Davis of Porter Ranch quickly stepped up, converting their home into a central donation point to assist evacuees in need.

The devastating Eaton Fire left many in their community struggling, including Cheyenne’s family and friends from the Pasadena/Altadena area. Cheyenne, whose roots are in Altadena, shared her personal connection to the crisis:

“I was raised in Altadena. My church is there, my family’s home, and all my loved ones have lost their homes. It was devastating to see how deeply this fire affected them,” Cheyenne explained to KTLA. “While our own home in Porter Ranch wasn’t directly impacted, the pain of seeing our neighbors suffer hit me hard.”

The Davises, who are featured on MTV’s Teen Mom: The Next Chapter and have a large following on Instagram and Snapchat, were overwhelmed with messages from people across the country asking how they could help. In response, Cheyenne took to social media to create an Amazon wishlist filled with 100 items needed by wildfire victims.

“I couldn’t sleep one night, so I just put together a list and posted it,” Cheyenne recalled. “Within five minutes, everything was bought.”

The list quickly expanded as more people reached out with additional suggestions. Soon, over 1,600 Amazon orders were placed, all scheduled to be delivered to the Davises’ home.

Recognizing that organizing such a large donation effort could be impersonal and overwhelming for victims, the couple decided to open their home as a makeshift donation center.

“After volunteering, we realized it’s a very personal experience. It’s hard for someone in need to go to a large, crowded donation center and sort through piles of clothes,” Cheyenne said. “So we opened our home not just to donations, but also for people who wanted a more private space to pick up the items they needed.”

The couple’s open-door policy allows families, particularly those with children, to come in and “shop” for the supplies they need without feeling embarrassed.

Zach Davis emphasized the ongoing need, saying:

“The situation right now is so urgent, and we’re keeping our house open to those who need assistance.”

As the donations continue to pour in, the couple plans to move their donation center to a larger location in Sherman Oaks to accommodate the growing need.

The pickup center will be set up at Star Suites at 15149 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., starting on Wednesday, January 15 and running through Friday, January 17.

For those who wish to contribute, donations can be made through their designated platform.
