A tragic hit-and-run incident in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles has claimed the life of an 87-year-old woman, according to the LAPD. The collision occurred around 6:50 p.m. on Monday, as the woman was walking west on Berkeley Avenue at the intersection with Allesandro Street.
The driver, operating a dark-colored Ford Transit van traveling southbound on Allesandro, struck the woman and immediately fled the scene, neglecting to offer assistance or communicate with law enforcement, authorities said.

The elderly woman was found at the scene and was pronounced dead shortly afterward. Her identity has not been released by the authorities.
As of Saturday, investigators have not identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the incident. To aid in solving the case, the LAPD is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to the identification and conviction of the individual responsible for the fatal hit-and-run.
