Rams Lose to Eagles in NFL Divisional Round Despite Strong Comeback Effort

Saquon Barkley delivered an electrifying performance in the snow, with two stunning touchdown runs of 78 and 62 yards, amassing a total of 205 rushing yards, as the Philadelphia Eagles edged past the Los Angeles Rams, 28-22, securing a spot in the NFC Championship Game for the second time in three years.

Barkley’s 62-yard touchdown in the first half gave the Eagles an early advantage, and he sealed the game in the fourth quarter with an explosive 78-yard sprint, effortlessly breaking through a gap and running untouched into the end zone. After crossing the goal line, Barkley celebrated by slapping his helmet and flapping his arms, a symbolic gesture to mark the triumph.

His teammates joined in the victory celebrations as they prepared for the NFC Championship matchup against the Washington Commanders, who pulled off a surprise win over top-seeded Detroit the day before. As the snow continued to fall, Barkley slid into the snow in an iconic moment — “Slide, Eagles, Slide!”

While the Rams fought hard, their efforts were hindered by two missed extra points from Eagles kicker Jake Elliott, keeping the game within reach. Matthew Stafford helped keep the Rams’ hopes alive with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Colby Parkinson, narrowing the deficit to 28-22. The Rams had a chance to mount a final comeback when they received the ball with just under two minutes left, and Stafford connected on back-to-back passes for 11 and 37 yards, pushing the Rams into Eagles’ territory.

However, a pivotal third-down sack by Jalen Carter and an incomplete fourth-down pass from Stafford ended the Rams’ chances, allowing the Eagles to hold on for the win.

The victory earns the Eagles a fifth appearance in the NFC Championship Game at Lincoln Financial Field since its opening in 2003, a testament to the team’s dominance on their home turf. The stage is set for a high-stakes clash with Washington next Sunday .
