A brush fire along the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley prompted an immediate response from firefighters on Monday afternoon. The fire was first reported around 4 p.m. on a hillside next to the northbound lanes in Granada Hills.
As the fire spread, Sky5 captured dramatic footage showing heavy smoke and flames pouring over the road. Fire crews quickly arrived at the scene, working to establish containment lines and control the fire before it spread further.

According to initial reports, the fire did not pose a direct threat to any structures, but authorities expressed concern about the potential for embers to travel. Fortunately, the Memorial Park Cemetery, located across from the fire, acted as a natural firebreak, preventing further spread of the flames.
While fire crews worked to bring the situation under control, the northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway were blocked. By the time the fire was fully contained, it had burned about three acres of brush.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. This incident comes amid a Santa Ana wind event affecting the area, which prompted the National Weather Service to issue a high fire danger alert, warning of particularly hazardous conditions .
