Seniors impacted by a major data breach at Vi, a high-end senior living company, may be eligible for cash compensation—potentially up to $6,500—with just a simple bank statement as proof.
Vi Data Breach Settlement
On March 13, 2023, hackers compromised Vi’s systems, exposing sensitive personal information, including names, Social Security numbers, financial records, and medical data. Although the company has denied any wrongdoing, Vi has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit by offering financial compensation and identity protection services to affected individuals.
The settlement provides two categories of cash payments based on the level of financial loss suffered:
✔ Up to $1,500 for Ordinary Losses
- This includes bank fees, credit monitoring expenses, travel costs, communication charges, and lost time (up to seven hours, compensated at $25 per hour).
- To claim lost time, you must submit documentation or a written explanation linking it to an out-of-pocket loss.

🔹 $1 million in medical identity theft insurance
🔹 Real-time monitoring of medical data
🔹 Access to fraud resolution experts
To qualify for the Vi data breach settlement, individuals must submit a claim at ViSettlement.com by February 3, 2025. Proof of losses, such as bank statements, credit card bills, or receipts, will be required. The final settlement approval hearing is set for February 19, 2025.
Another Data Breach Settlement Offers Up to $8,050
Seniors aren’t the only ones who may qualify for data breach settlements. Affected patients of Hapy Bear Surgery Center, a pediatric dental facility in Tulare, California, may also be entitled to payouts of up to $8,050.
A lawsuit against the surgery center alleges that it failed to protect patients’ private data from a cyberattack in December 2023. Stolen information reportedly included names, Social Security numbers, health insurance details, and medical records.
