Fugitive on FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List Captured in California

A fugitive from Oklahoma was arrested in California just a week after being named to Attorney General Gentner Drummond’s 10 Most Wanted list.

Sau Tau “James” Liu was taken into custody on January 14 by U.S. Marshals, following a joint operation between the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Oklahoma Metro Fugitive Task Force. Liu was wanted in Lincoln County for trafficking more than 25 pounds of marijuana, a charge stemming from a November 2023 Multi-County Grand Jury indictment.

Attorney General Gentner Drummond praised the capture, emphasizing the importance of law enforcement collaboration.

“This arrest is yet another example of how effective our 10 Most Wanted program is. Through strong partnerships at the state, federal, tribal, and local levels, we are holding fugitives accountable for their alleged crimes,” Drummond stated.

Public Tips Played a Key Role

Liu was placed on the Most Wanted list in early January, and tips from the public helped authorities develop leads that ultimately led them to Sacramento, California, where Liu was apprehended.

This arrest marks the eighth successful capture from the Attorney General’s 10 Most Wanted list, further demonstrating the program’s impact in tracking down fugitives.

Rewards for Information on Remaining Fugitives

Authorities are still seeking several individuals on the Most Wanted list. In some cases, cash rewards ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 are available for information leading directly to an arrest.
