A fast-moving wildfire near Castaic has prompted mandatory evacuation orders and warnings as it rapidly spreads, burning over 3,400 acres by Wednesday morning. Authorities are urging residents in affected areas to stay informed about evacuation status, which can be tracked through the Genasys Protect map or by visiting the official websites of Cal Fire and local emergency services.

The blaze, named the Hughes Fire, was first reported around 10:45 a.m. by officials from the Angeles National Forest. Initially estimated at just 50 acres, the fire quickly grew in size, expanding to around 100 acres by late morning. By 11:45 a.m., the fire had escalated to an estimated 500 acres, continuing to spread rapidly throughout the day.
Residents in nearby areas are advised to stay alert and follow official evacuation instructions to ensure their safety.
