Authorities are searching for the driver responsible for a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of an elderly man in Long Beach.
The victim, 80-year-old Enrique Barajas, was struck by a white SUV on January 20 around 12:15 p.m. near Atlantic Avenue and Pleasant Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Barajas, who was riding a bicycle, was heading north on Atlantic Avenue when he merged into another lane. As he did so, a white SUV traveling in the same direction sideswiped him. The driver of the SUV failed to stop and fled the scene.

Barajas was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and the driver remains unidentified. No further details about the suspect have been released at this time.
