Southern California Fugitive Accused of Brutally Beating Elderly Man to Death

Authorities are actively searching for a suspect who allegedly beat a 79-year-old man to death with a baseball bat in San Bernardino County.

The suspect, 37-year-old Ronalee Barrett Stanberry, is wanted in connection with the brutal attack on January 10 at Allstate Insurance on Sierra Avenue in Fontana, according to the Fontana Police Department. The victim, a 79-year-old man, has not been publicly named.

The assault occurred just before 9 a.m. while the victim was preparing to open his business for the day. Police say Stanberry attacked the victim with a baseball bat in an unprovoked assault. The victim’s son confronted Stanberry, causing the suspect to flee the scene on foot, heading toward the eastbound 10 Freeway onramp.

The elderly victim was transported to the hospital and tragically passed away from his injuries on January 21, eleven days after the attack.

Stanberry, described as a transient with connections to Chino, Los Angeles, and Kern County, has a history of arrests, including a recent one in Bakersfield. He was last seen wearing a white, blue pinstripe U.S. Postal Service shirt, which police believe was stolen from the victim’s business, as well as black pants and athletic shoes. The suspect also has tattoos on his arms and the words “Active” and “Whiteboy” inked above his eyebrows.

“The Fontana Police Department is dedicated to seeking justice for the victim and his family,” said authorities.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident is urged to contact Detective Hart at 909-854-8172 or call 911.
