52-Year-Old Arrested in Connection with Nearly 10 Southern California Robberies

A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of robberies that took place in Orange County earlier this month, according to officials.

The Garden Grove Police Department announced the arrest on Wednesday, revealing that investigators noticed similarities across at least five robberies in early January. Detectives observed patterns that led them to believe the incidents were linked to the same suspect.

“After examining surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses, detectives concluded that these robberies were likely committed by one individual,” the department said. Further investigation led authorities to reach out to other local law enforcement agencies, which uncovered three additional robberies, bringing the total to eight.

The suspect, identified as David Zamarripa from Garden Grove, was apprehended after detectives spotted him attempting to leave a hotel in the city. During the arrest, investigators uncovered evidence tying Zamarripa to the robberies, as well as a possible weapon used in the crimes.

Authorities did not disclose any details about the victims or the specific similarities between the robberies.

Zamarripa has been booked into the Orange County Jail. Anyone with information about the case or potential additional victims is encouraged to contact Detective G. Jordan at 714-741-5838 or the Garden Grove Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 714-741-5800.
