The Culver City Police Department issued a public warning on Monday regarding a phone scam in which fraudsters are posing as officers.
Officials report that the scammers are using tactics to make their calls appear as if they are coming directly from the police department. In some instances, the individuals even employ official-sounding language to deceive their targets into believing the call is legitimate.

The scammers typically request sensitive personal details, including social security numbers, bank account information, and home addresses, among other private data.
The police department is advising residents to be cautious. If you receive a suspicious call from someone claiming to be with the Culver City Police Department, authorities recommend hanging up and calling 310-253-6208 to verify the legitimacy of the inquiry.
