Man Arrested for Stealing Humvees and Equipment from Orange County Military Warehouse

A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of military vehicles and gear from the Army Reserve Center in Tustin, officials announced on Wednesday.

Alfredo Reyes Jr., 40, of Orange, was taken into custody after being identified as the suspect in the crime. The Tustin Police Department reported that the theft took place on January 8 when Reyes allegedly broke into a storage facility and used bolt cutters to break a lock, gaining access to a military vehicle parking lot.

Reyes then stole several pieces of military equipment, including three Humvees and other items, such as:

  • An armored Humvee (M1151A1 model)
  • Two cloth-door Humvees (M1097 models)
  • Eight machine gun vehicle mounts
  • Seven machine gun tripods
  • 18 bayonets
  • 40 pairs of binoculars
  • Medical equipment

Following the theft, a coordinated effort by Tustin Police, the Irvine-Tustin SWAT Team, the Army Criminal Investigations Division, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad led to the execution of multiple search warrants in Orange on January 16. During the investigation, Reyes was linked to the theft and arrested.

Authorities confirmed that all stolen equipment, including the Humvees, was recovered during the arrest. While Reyes’ booking photo has not been released, Tustin police expressed their gratitude to law enforcement partners and the public for their help in solving the case.

“We appreciate the support from our local law enforcement partners and the community members who provided tips that led to this successful resolution,” Tustin police said in a statement.
