Apple to Pay $20M in Watch Settlement: Claim Your Payment Without a Receipt

Apple is offering Americans a chance to claim part of a $20 million settlement over issues with certain Apple Watch models. The settlement stems from a class action lawsuit claiming that specific models were prone to battery swelling, which could cause the watches to malfunction.

Consumers who owned or currently own a first-generation, Series 1, Series 2, or Series 3 Apple Watch are eligible for compensation if they reported battery swelling issues between April 24, 2015, and February 6, 2024. The lawsuit alleges that these Apple Watches were designed without enough space for battery expansion, leading to damage to the watch’s screen and other components, which required expensive repairs.

Though Apple has not admitted any wrongdoing, it agreed to settle the case. Under the terms of the settlement, eligible individuals can receive $20 for each qualifying device. If the net settlement fund exceeds $50,000, claimants could receive up to $50 per device, with a pro-rata share if the total fund falls below this amount.

The best part? You don’t need a receipt to make a claim. To get your payout, all you need to do is verify your payment information on the settlement website. Eligible participants will automatically receive their payments unless they opt out.

In addition to the Apple Watch settlement, there are other opportunities for Americans to claim payouts. A data breach settlement involving McPherson Hospital in Kansas offers up to $5,400 for eligible individuals, with just a receipt required for reimbursement.

Furthermore, Nationstar Mortgage has agreed to pay $5.8 million to settle claims of mortgage servicing violations, which allegedly resulted in some borrowers losing their homes. Again, no documentation is required to claim a share of the settlement.

These opportunities represent a timely chance for individuals who’ve been affected by these issues to receive compensation without the need for extensive paperwork or documentation.
