$4 Billion OCVIBE Entertainment District Coming Soon to Anaheim

Anaheim’s ambitious “OCVIBE” entertainment district is making significant strides toward transforming the area into a vibrant, all-encompassing destination. This $4 billion development is poised to become a cornerstone of Southern California’s tourism landscape, particularly during what officials are calling Anaheim’s “golden decade.”

The project is largely funded by the Samueli family, who own the Anaheim Ducks and operate the Honda Center, the district’s central hub. This iconic arena will anchor the development, which will feature a mix of restaurants, bars, shops, hotels, apartments, and a 6,000-seat concert venue. Approved by the Anaheim City Council in 2022, construction began in 2023.

“OCVIBE is designed around live entertainment and will be a game-changer for the city,” said Dan Young, executive director of the district’s development. “This is a major investment in Anaheim’s future.”

A primary goal of OCVIBE is to create a more cohesive downtown Anaheim. Currently, key attractions like the Honda Center, Angel Stadium, and Disneyland are scattered across the city, making it feel disjointed. OCVIBE aims to fill this gap by connecting the Honda Center to the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center via a pedestrian bridge. The district will feature a walkable space with parks, plazas, and scenic walking trails.

A significant public investment in the project includes a $100 million overhaul of the nearby Santa Ana River. Once a muddy, unattractive space, the river will soon be transformed into a family-friendly riverwalk for locals and tourists to enjoy.

“We’re revitalizing the Santa Ana River, which has been underutilized,” said Rep. Lou Correa (D-Santa Ana), who represents Anaheim. “This is about bringing vibrancy back to the area.”

City officials and business leaders see OCVIBE as a major opportunity to boost Anaheim’s tourism appeal. In 2023, Anaheim welcomed more than 25 million visitors, and they expect even more growth as the city expands its attractions beyond Disneyland.

“This is the beginning of Anaheim’s Golden Decade,” said Mike Waterman, president and CEO of Visit Anaheim. “The developments here, along with global events like the World Cup and the Olympics, will make Anaheim a central hub for tourism in Orange County.”

OCVIBE is still in its early construction phases, with the first section set to open in late 2026 or early 2027. This initial phase will feature five new restaurants and the concert hall. Following that, the district will expand with more outdoor spaces, nightlife venues, and theaters for live events. An outdoor plaza is also planned for large-scale watch parties.

The entire district is expected to be completed by 2032, with two hotels, office spaces, and more than 2,000 residential units planned to be part of the final development.
