Gunman Opens Fire After Restaurant Dispute in San Bernardino County

A weekend altercation at a Colton restaurant escalated into gunfire when a man allegedly opened fire on patrons while driving away, authorities reported Friday.

The incident took place just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday on the 800 block of East Valley Boulevard, according to Colton police. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots following a disturbance at the restaurant. Shortly after, a man involved in the dispute allegedly returned in a vehicle and fired multiple rounds at customers.

Detectives later identified 34-year-old Roberto GarciaVieyra as the suspect. He was arrested without incident on Thursday, and officers recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.

Officials have not disclosed the cause of the initial conflict that led to the gunfire.

GarciaVieyra was booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of attempted homicide.
