Protesters converged in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, vocally opposing President Trump’s aggressive deportation and immigration policies as they clogged streets and the 101 Freeway. The demonstration, part of a broader wave of protests across Southern California and beyond, was mirrored by smaller gatherings in cities nationwide.
In Ventura County, a few hundred demonstrators assembled on a corner along Los Angeles Avenue in Moorpark. Meanwhile, Riverside County saw a significant turnout at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Tyler Street. One Riverside protester, holding a sign that declared “Fight ignorance NOT immigrants,” told a KNN News photojournalist, “We’re here standing in solidarity with immigrants, with the undocumented community, with our friends, family, and neighbors—the very people who helped build this country and keep our community running. Donald Trump and his far-right billionaires are attacking undocumented immigrants, and we’re saying no to that.”

Similar scenes unfolded in San Diego, where demonstrators waved Mexican flags and carried pro-immigration placards urging the administration to “stop mass deportations.” In downtown Dallas, Texas, thousands gathered in front of City Hall, chanting and blocking streets, while protests also broke out in Arkansas, Missouri, and Georgia, according to Newsweek.
These protests come amid a series of executive orders signed by President Trump since his return to office, which have bolstered military presence at the U.S.-Mexico border and relaxed restrictions on Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In the early days of his second term, the Trump administration boasted daily immigration arrest figures nearing 1,000 on social media.
Under the new directives, ICE now has expanded authority, including targeting migrants in sensitive locations such as schools and churches for potential arrests and deportations. This policy shift has ignited further public outcry, fueling protests across the nation as communities rally against what they see as an attack on immigrant rights.
