A coordinated effort by more than 100 law enforcement agencies across California has led to over 500 arrests in a sweeping human trafficking operation, officials confirmed.
Among the agencies involved, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and Long Beach Police Department collectively made over 230 arrests, taking a significant number of suspected traffickers off the streets.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman reinforced the zero-tolerance stance on human trafficking, stating, “These individuals prey on vulnerable young girls and boys, treating them as property. We are committed to tracking them down, prosecuting them, and ensuring they serve the longest sentences possible.” The Los Angeles Regional Human Trafficking Task Force played a critical role in the operation, with investigators from the District Attorney’s Office actively participating.

Sheriff Robert G. Luna emphasized the power of collaboration, saying, “When law enforcement unites statewide, we strengthen our ability to hold traffickers accountable, protect victims, and prevent future exploitation.” LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell also praised the effort, noting that 205 arrests were made and several minors were rescued from dangerous situations.
One of the individuals charged in the operation is 23-year-old Jamaree Javanglyn Beckly, who was arrested by LAPD on January 23. He faces felony charges for human trafficking of a minor and pandering an adult. Beckly, who pleaded not guilty, is set for a preliminary hearing on February 10. If convicted, he could face up to 13 years and four months in prison.
