500+ Arrested in Massive California Human Trafficking Crackdown

A massive human trafficking operation spanning across California has led to more than 500 arrests, officials confirmed. The weeklong effort involved over 100 law enforcement agencies, including the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and Long Beach Police Department, which collectively made more than 230 arrests.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman reinforced the state’s dedication to combating human trafficking, calling those involved “modern-day slave masters.” He warned traffickers that law enforcement would relentlessly pursue, arrest, and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. The Los Angeles Regional Human Trafficking Task Force, which includes investigators from the District Attorney’s Office, played a key role in the operation.

Sheriff Robert G. Luna stressed the importance of statewide cooperation in addressing trafficking crimes, emphasizing that joint efforts strengthen enforcement, aid victims, and deter future offenses. LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell praised the operation’s success, which resulted in 205 arrests and the rescue of multiple minors who were being exploited.

One of the individuals facing charges is 23-year-old Jamaree Javanglyn Beckly. Arrested by the LAPD on January 23, Beckly has been charged with human trafficking of a minor and pandering an adult. He has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on February 10. If convicted, he could face up to 13 years and four months in prison.

Authorities say they will continue their aggressive approach to dismantling human trafficking networks and ensuring justice for victims. The investigation remains ongoing.
