A tragic collision on the northbound 405 Freeway in the Westwood area Friday evening left one woman dead and three others injured, officials reported.
The crash occurred just before 7 p.m. near Wilshire Boulevard. Emergency responders arrived to find a 72-year-old woman who had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two individuals were transported to a hospital in critical condition, while a 60-year-old woman was listed in fair condition, according to the fire department.

In addition to the human casualties, authorities confirmed that a dog was also killed in the incident. Another dog involved in the crash remains missing.
At this time, investigators have not determined the cause of the collision. The California Highway Patrol closed several lanes—numbers 3, 4, and 5—while crews worked to clear the wreckage. Officials expected the closures to last for at least three hours.
