BOISE, ID – A California man was sentenced to a decade in federal prison after being caught transporting methamphetamine and cocaine in Idaho.
On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Robert Paul Anthony Aragon, 31, appeared before Senior U.S. District Court Judge B. Lynn Winmill in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho. He was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine.
Traffic Stop Leads to Major Drug Bust
According to U.S. Attorney Josh Hurwitt, Aragon was pulled over in Owyhee County, Idaho, for a traffic violation. During the stop, a K9 unit conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle and alerted officers to the presence of drugs.

A subsequent vehicle search led to the discovery of:
- 25 pounds of methamphetamine
- One kilogram of cocaine
- A loaded Glock 27 semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine holding 22 rounds of 9mm ammunition
Aragon Pleads Guilty
After his arrest, Aragon entered a plea agreement and pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges. His conviction follows an investigation led by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Nampa Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, the Owyhee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Idaho State Police.
