A Santa Monica man is facing serious charges after allegedly shooting his wife in the head in front of their teenage son in Encino earlier this month, authorities announced Wednesday.
The fatal incident occurred on the evening of Feb. 5, around 7:25 p.m., in the 18000 block of Santa Rita Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers responding to the scene discovered 54-year-old Linda Farzan suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead outside a home where she and her teenage son had been attending a religious gathering. Investigators say the teen witnessed the horrific shooting.

The suspect, identified as 64-year-old Sean Farzan, allegedly fled the scene on foot but was quickly apprehended by police.
Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive, but the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office revealed the shooting occurred during the couple’s pending divorce.
“This was an unthinkable act of violence that no child should have to witness,” District Attorney Nathan Hochman said in a statement. “Our office is committed to seeking justice and ensuring the individual responsible faces the full consequences of his actions.”
Farzan has been charged with felony first-degree murder and felony child abuse under circumstances likely to cause great bodily harm or death. He is currently being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 20.
If convicted, he faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
