Act Fast! Up to $6.5K Available in Data Breach Settlement

Thousands of Americans may be entitled to payments of up to $6,500 following a data breach involving Bridgeway Center, a Florida-based provider of mental health services.

A class action lawsuit was filed against the company, alleging that it failed to properly secure sensitive data, leading to a cyberattack that exposed the personal information of 65,386 individuals.

Details of the Data Breach

  • The security breach occurred on or around February 21, 2024, compromising Social Security numbers, financial details, protected health records, and other private information.
  • The breach was discovered in February 2024, and impacted individuals were notified by Bridgeway Center in May 2024.
  • Plaintiffs in the lawsuit argue that the company could have taken stronger cybersecurity measures to prevent the attack.

While Bridgeway Center has not admitted any wrongdoing, it has agreed to a financial settlement to compensate affected individuals.

Who Is Eligible and How Much Can Be Claimed?

Eligible claimants can receive:

  • Up to $1,500 for ordinary losses such as bank fees, credit monitoring expenses, and other financial costs tied to the breach.
  • Up to $5,000 for extraordinary losses related to fraud or identity theft resulting from the breach.

To receive these higher payouts, individuals must provide proof of financial damages, such as receipts or bank statements.

For those who did not experience direct financial losses—or choose not to submit documentation—a one-time cash payment of $125 is available.

Deadline and Next Steps

  • The deadline to submit claims is February 8, 2025.
  • Individuals who fail to file by the deadline will not receive any compensation and will waive their right to take further legal action against Bridgeway Center.
  • A final approval hearing for the settlement took place on January 24, 2025, and payouts will be processed once all claims are reviewed.

In addition to this case, some Apple customers may also qualify for a share of a $20 million settlement related to defective Apple Watches.
