Man Arrested After Climbing Hollywood Sign ‘D’ and Waving Flag

A man was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after scaling the Hollywood sign and perching atop the letter ‘D’ for nearly an hour.

Stunt Draws Attention

The individual, whose identity has not been released, waved a flag promoting a social media account while standing on the 45-foot-tall landmark, located on the southern slope of Mount Lee.

Authorities Respond

Park rangers and law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene, navigating the steep terrain to communicate with the climber. Officials monitored the situation as they attempted to de-escalate the incident.

The man began his climb just before 3 p.m., staying on the sign for about an hour before voluntarily coming down. He was then taken into custody without further incident.

Authorities have not released further details about potential charges or the motive behind the climb.
