Police Identify Suspected Gunman in Fatal North Hollywood Shooting

A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred in North Hollywood on February 15, Los Angeles Police officials confirmed.

Carlos Meza has been identified as the suspect in the shooting, which took place in the 11100 block of Magnolia Boulevard, a busy area known for its bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and apartment buildings.

According to investigators, Meza and 32-year-old Luke Reynolds got into a verbal confrontation, although the exact cause of the argument remains unclear. The altercation escalated when Meza allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Reynolds multiple times, ultimately killing him.

Following the shooting, Meza fled the scene in a vehicle. On February 16, officers from the LAPD Gang and Narcotics Division Fugitive Task Force located Meza more than two miles away from the incident, in the vicinity of Vineland Avenue and Vanowen Street in North Hollywood.

During the arrest, use-of-force was reportedly applied, though no specific details have been disclosed. Meza was treated at a local hospital for injuries before being taken into custody at the Van Nuys Jail. He has been charged with murder and is being held without bail.

In the wake of the tragic shooting, a vigil was held outside the Granville restaurant on Sunday evening, where a small altar was set up in memory of Reynolds.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, with authorities yet to provide further details.
