A woman has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) following a tragic crash that resulted in the death of another driver in Anaheim.
The collision occurred Sunday evening, around 10 p.m., near the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and West Broadway. According to Anaheim Police, two vehicles were involved: a red crossover SUV and a white Volkswagen sedan.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene after the SUV driver became trapped inside the vehicle. Using heavy machinery, emergency crews extricated her from the wreckage. Despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead about an hour later at a nearby hospital. Authorities have identified her as a 56-year-old woman from Long Beach.

The driver of the Volkswagen, 29-year-old Samantha Farris of Buena Park, also sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Investigators believe that Farris made an improper left turn directly into the path of the SUV, leading to the fatal crash. Witnesses reported seeing Farris at a nearby business shortly before the incident, prompting police to suspect she may have been under the influence at the time of the crash.
Based on probable cause, Anaheim police launched a DUI investigation, stating that Farris may have been operating the vehicle while intoxicated and in an unsafe manner.
After being medically cleared from the hospital, Farris was arrested and booked into jail. She faces potential charges for driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter. Farris was later released on bail early the following morning.
The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Anaheim Police Department at 714-765-1900 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
