McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski has offered an exciting glimpse into the future of the fast food chain’s menu, confirming that two fan-favorite items will make a return, along with a brand-new addition.
Earlier, in December, Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald’s USA, shared the much-anticipated news on Good Morning America that the beloved Snack Wraps would make a comeback in 2025. These wraps, featuring chicken, lettuce, and cheese wrapped in a warm tortilla, originally debuted in 2006 but were removed from the menu in 2016 due to complaints about the time it took to prepare them. While some franchises kept the wraps on their menus for a while, they were officially phased out in 2020. Since then, a wave of petitions and online campaigns has been rallying for their return.
Chris Kempczinski confirmed the excitement surrounding the wraps, stating, “This year, there is incredible energy for the return of Snack Wraps in the U.S.”
But that’s not all—the CEO also hinted at a new chicken item soon to be launched. Though he kept tight-lipped about the details, he teased, “The U.S. will also launch a new chicken strip offering.” Fans are eagerly speculating whether this could be a revival of another McDonald’s favorite, the Chicken Selects. Known for their larger size and crispy breading, the Selects were a popular alternative to Chicken McNuggets before they were removed from the menu.
Chris didn’t give any specifics about the new chicken product or the Snack Wrap’s exact return date but assured customers that further details would come later in the year. He joked, “The U.S. team would kill me if I gave any more details about the when and the exact specifics of how we’re going to plan on doing that.”

While the Snack Wraps will officially return in the U.S. next year, they are still available in some McDonald’s locations overseas. In addition, fans believe that the Chicken Selects could also be making a return, fueled by Chris’s earlier comments during the company’s 2024 Q4 earnings call. He revealed McDonald’s would be focusing heavily on expanding its chicken offerings in the coming years, including the continued roll-out of McCrispy, which will be available in nearly all markets by the end of 2025.
“Chicken is a significant part of our menu, and we see a significant opportunity to grow our share of the chicken market by 2026,” Chris said. This includes popular items such as McChicken, McNuggets, McCrispy, and the Chicken Big Mac, which replaces the classic beef patties with tempura-battered chicken. The Chicken Big Mac has been hailed as McDonald’s “most successful food promotion ever.”
As the fast-food chain continues to innovate and expand its chicken offerings, fans eagerly await the official return of the Snack Wrap and the debut of the new chicken product later this year.
