Authorities are searching for a driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash Saturday night in South Los Angeles, which police believe was connected to illegal street racing.
The fatal incident occurred around 10 p.m. near Normandie Avenue and 66th Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a gray Dodge Charger and a dark-colored Chevrolet Tahoe were racing southbound on Normandie when tragedy struck.

As the two vehicles sped down the road, a woman was crossing outside of a designated crosswalk when the Charger struck her. Instead of stopping, the driver fled the scene.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
LAPD is actively working to track down the driver of the Charger. Under the city’s Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund, officials are offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect .
