A suspected gang-related shooting in Orange County led to a police chase spanning multiple cities and the arrest of four individuals early Sunday morning.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of gunfire around 12:45 a.m. in a residential area near Calle Campana and Calle Canasta in San Clemente, just off Camino De Los Mares and the 5 Freeway.
Deputies arrived at the scene and discovered shell casings along with other evidence pointing to a shooting. Shortly after, authorities identified a vehicle that may have been involved and located it in Dana Point.
When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to comply, leading officers on a pursuit that ended in San Juan Capistrano.

The two other occupants of the vehicle remained inside and were also taken into custody. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether charges will be filed against the suspects.
Despite the dramatic series of events, deputies found no victims at the original shooting location. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Gang Enforcement Team and Crime Lab are leading the investigation.
