Flu Crisis in California: Hundreds Dead Amid Severe Outbreak

A new report from the California Department of Public Health reveals that this flu season has been the most deadly in the past six years, with fatalities continuing to climb.

The data shows that a significant portion of the deaths—around 25%—occurred in individuals under 65, while approximately 700 victims were aged 65 and older. Additionally, at least 15 children have lost their lives to flu-related complications.

Flu Season Shows No Signs of Slowing

Typically, flu cases begin to decline by February, but this year’s outbreak has shown no signs of letting up. Public health officials are urging residents to take precautions as the virus continues to spread.

Meanwhile, in a surprising move, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently halted its seasonal flu shot campaign. This decision follows the appointment of vocal vaccine critic Robert Kennedy Jr. to a top health position in the federal government.

Additionally, a scheduled CDC conference with medical experts on flu prevention has been canceled. This advisory group typically meets several times a year to provide recommendations on vaccine use.

The CDC itself may soon face scrutiny, as President Trump’s recent executive order includes a review of the agency’s role and operations .
