A police pursuit in Los Angeles ended with the arrest of a driver and two passengers after the suspect vehicle came to a halt on the 101 Freeway, causing significant traffic disruptions.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) initially attempted to stop the driver for speeding, but the situation escalated when the suspect used the brake lane to weave through traffic, refusing to yield.
Standoff on the Freeway
The pursuit came to an end around 5:30 p.m. when the driver pulled over on the southbound 101 Freeway near Vermont Avenue in East Hollywood. Despite stopping, the individual inside the vehicle refused to exit, roll down the windows, or comply with officers’ commands.

To contain the situation, authorities shut down the southbound lanes of the freeway, diverting traffic away from the stalled vehicle.
Tactical Response Leads to Surrender
As the standoff continued, law enforcement escalated their response. Aerial footage from Sky5 captured officers positioning spike strips around the car while others drew their weapons in preparation for a possible confrontation.
Around 5:50 p.m., after repeated attempts to get the driver to surrender, officers deployed pepper balls into the vehicle. This forced the driver to drop the keys and finally step out of the car, where they were promptly taken into custody.
Shortly after, two passengers also exited the vehicle and were detained.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved or any potential charges beyond the initial speeding violation. Traffic on the 101 Freeway remained backed up as officials worked to clear the scene.
