Pedestrian in Critical Condition After Hit-and-Run in Boyle Heights

Authorities are searching for the driver responsible for a hit-and-run collision that left a pedestrian in critical condition in Boyle Heights.

The incident occurred on the night of Feb. 5, shortly before 9 p.m., when a 49-year-old man was crossing 1st Street near Fresno Street. As he made his way across the roadway, a silver Honda Odyssey minivan struck him and then sped off without stopping, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Surveillance footage captured the moment the driver fled the scene, failing to check on the severely injured pedestrian. Emergency responders arrived and transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Authorities have identified the suspect’s vehicle as an older model Honda Odyssey, manufactured between 1999 and 2004. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to the suspect’s arrest and conviction.

LAPD officials urge all drivers to remain at the scene of any collision, contact emergency services, and identify themselves when involved in an accident.
