CALIFORNIA — Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) weighed in on the ongoing congressional budget battle, raising concerns about proposed reductions to federal programs, including healthcare funding and wildfire relief for Los Angeles.
Despite Republicans holding the majority in both chambers, divisions within the party continue to complicate negotiations over the latest budget proposal. Schiff voiced strong opposition to the bill passed by the House, arguing that it prioritizes tax breaks for corporations and the wealthy at the expense of everyday Americans.

“This legislation includes $4.5 trillion in tax cuts that primarily benefit large corporations and the ultra-wealthy,” Schiff stated. “It comes at the cost of significant reductions in critical programs like Medicaid, which would have devastating consequences for millions of Americans. Not only does this threaten access to healthcare, but it also adds to the national deficit.”
Additionally, Schiff pointed out that the bill places restrictions on federal funding designated for wildfire relief in Los Angeles, potentially hindering recovery efforts for communities affected by devastating fires. He urged lawmakers to reconsider the proposal, emphasizing the need for a budget that balances economic priorities without compromising essential services.
