South Carolina (Thechieftainspear) – Two South Carolina men have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a drug trafficking operation involving money laundering and firearms possession, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina announced on February 28.
Rashaad Green, 31, of Union, received a 15-year prison sentence, followed by five years of court-ordered supervision. Shaquille Barber, 30, of Moore, was sentenced to seven years in prison, also followed by five years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Federal authorities revealed that between 2020 and 2024, Green and Barber regularly traveled to California and other western states to acquire large quantities of marijuana for distribution in South Carolina. The investigation uncovered that the two men laundered drug proceeds through financial institutions, with court records showing hundreds of thousands of dollars moving through their accounts.
During this period, both Green and Barber were also found in possession of firearms linked to their drug trafficking activities.
As part of their sentencing, U.S. District Judge Donald C. Coggins ordered the forfeiture of multiple assets. Green must forfeit jewelry, firearms, and cash, in addition to a $500,000 forfeiture judgment. Barber was ordered to forfeit jewelry, a Rolex watch, a 2019 Audi Q8, a firearm, and cash, along with a $250,000 forfeiture judgment.
The case highlights ongoing efforts by federal authorities to combat drug-related money laundering and firearm offenses in South Carolina.
