Bicyclists Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver While Handing Out ‘Red Cards’ in Boyle Heights

Boyle Heights (Thechieftainspear) – Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who plowed into a group of bicyclists in Boyle Heights before fleeing the scene.

The incident took place on Feb. 25 near Mariachi Plaza, where around 15 cyclists had gathered for an event distributing red cards—informational pamphlets that educate immigrants about their rights when dealing with authorities.

Surveillance Captures the Shocking Moment

Security footage from the area recorded a female driver approaching the cyclists just before 8 p.m. and ramming into them from behind.

One rider, who preferred to remain anonymous, recalled the terrifying moment.

“One second, I was riding my bike. The next, I was on the ground.”

At least four cyclists were struck, with one victim being thrown onto the suspect’s windshield. Desperate to stop the vehicle, some riders tossed their bicycles at it, but the driver continued accelerating through the crowd before speeding away.

Witnesses Provide Description of the Suspect

Bystanders and victims described the driver as a white woman with a shaved head, appearing distracted by her cellphone and visibly upset as she drove through the cyclists.

Injuries and Aftermath

Several riders were left with moderate to severe injuries.

“One of the most injured cyclists had to be rushed to the ER,” a victim shared. “He suffered head trauma and was bleeding. He was so disoriented he didn’t even realize what had happened.”

Others reported injuries to their knees, arms, and overall mobility, with one woman unable to feel her left arm following the crash.
