Violence Erupts Again: Deadly Shooting at California Hotel

SAN DIEGO, CA (Thechieftainspear) – A deadly shooting at a Mission Valley hotel earlier this week has left one man dead and another injured, while authorities have taken a suspect into custody.

San Diego Police identified the victim as 19-year-old Damian Martinez of El Monte, California. Officers discovered his body in a hallway of the Handlery Hotel, located in the 900 block of Hotel Circle North, around 8:30 p.m. on Monday.

A second victim, a 23-year-old man, was found near the hotel lobby with gunshot wounds that were determined to be non-life-threatening. His name has not been released.

Witnesses told police they saw the suspected shooter leave the scene and enter a dark-colored truck. Officers quickly located the vehicle in the hotel parking lot and found the suspect still inside.

Authorities identified the suspect as 29-year-old Kevin Casey Larin of Northridge, California. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into San Diego Central Jail on charges of murder and attempted murder.

According to investigators, the suspect and both victims were co-workers who had traveled to San Diego for work. However, police have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
