Anaheim Homicide: Teen Suspect Arrested in Woman’s Fatal Shooting

Anaheim(Thechieftainspear) – A teenager has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a woman who was found inside her crashed vehicle in Anaheim earlier this week.

The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Jerry Gutierrez of Cudahy, was taken into custody on March 7 on suspicion of murder, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

Authorities initially responded to a traffic collision around 8 p.m. on March 4 in the 700 block of North Vine Street. When officers arrived, they discovered 48-year-old Charlene Zuazo of Anaheim inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Earlier that evening, police had also been dispatched to a report of gunfire near Vine and Cypress Streets, about half a mile from the crash site. While officers found evidence of a shooting, no suspect was located at that time.

After an investigation, detectives determined that Zuazo had been shot near Vine and Cypress, but she continued driving before ultimately crashing into a parked car.

Homicide detectives identified Gutierrez as the suspected shooter, leading to his arrest. The case has been forwarded to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Investigators have not yet released details on a possible motive or whether the suspect and victim knew each other.
