L.A. County Inmate Escapes from Reentry Program, Search Underway

LOS ANGELES(Thechieftainspear) – – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who escaped from a Los Angeles County reentry program facility on Sunday afternoon.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) identified the escapee as 45-year-old Herber Ramosrauda. He was last seen around 2:53 p.m. when staff at the Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) facility noticed his absence and conducted an emergency headcount, confirming he was missing.

Officials have not disclosed the exact details of how Ramosrauda managed to leave the facility, stating only that he “walked away.” His last known whereabouts were in the area of Wilshire Boulevard and S. Bonnie Brae Street in Los Angeles.

Ramosrauda is described as a Hispanic male, standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a gray sweater, gray pants, and carrying a red backpack.

According to CDCR, Ramosrauda was serving a three-year sentence for second-degree robbery after being convicted in Los Angeles County. He had been admitted to the reentry program on May 13, 2024, as part of an initiative that allows eligible individuals nearing the end of their sentences to transition back into society through supervised facilities.

Authorities are urging anyone who sees Ramosrauda or has information about his location to contact law enforcement immediately by calling 911 or reaching out to OCS Special Agent Andrew Meyers at 661-440-8477.
