28-Year-Old Burglary Suspect Flees SoCal Police in Stolen SUV

GARDEN GROVE, CA(Thechieftainspear) –  A suspect accused of stealing a luxury SUV and leading police on a chase through multiple cities before a standoff on the freeway has been taken into custody, authorities confirmed.

According to the Garden Grove Police Department, officers spotted a black Land Rover Sport near Harbor Boulevard and Garden Grove Boulevard shortly before 2 p.m. on Sunday. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day.

Police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Jonathan McLaurin of Santa Ana. When officers attempted a traffic stop, McLaurin allegedly refused to comply, sparking a pursuit.

During the chase, he reportedly rammed two police vehicles in an effort to evade capture. The pursuit ultimately ended on the 91 Freeway, east of Imperial Highway, where McLaurin’s vehicle came to a stop.

To prevent another escape attempt, officers used an armored police vehicle to block him in. Despite repeated commands to surrender, McLaurin remained inside the stolen SUV, prompting law enforcement to deploy a K9 unit.

The suspect was eventually apprehended and taken to a hospital for medical evaluation before being booked into Orange County Jail. The severity of his injuries was not immediately disclosed.
