Disney Unveils Avengers Campus Expansion & Mandalorian Addition for 2026

(Thechieftainspear) – Disney thrilled fans at South by Southwest on Saturday by unveiling fresh details about upcoming experiences and attractions at Disneyland Resort.

During The Future of World-Building at Disney panel, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, Walt Disney Imagineering President Bruce Vaughn, and actor Robert Downey Jr. shared insights into the latest additions to Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure.

Avengers Campus Expansions

Avengers Infinity Defense

A brand-new adventure will put guests right in the middle of an intense battle alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. As recruits, visitors will join forces with characters like Black Panther, Hulk, and Ant-Man to take on King Thanos, traveling through multiple dimensions in a high-stakes mission to protect the universe.

Stark Flight Lab

Step into Tony Stark’s world with an immersive experience that allows guests to test groundbreaking technology inside his workshop.

In this one-of-a-kind attraction, visitors will board gyro-kinetic pods that navigate a track before coming to a stop in front of a massive robotic arm. From there, the arm will lift riders into the air, simulating high-speed maneuvers reminiscent of Iron Man’s iconic flight sequences.

According to Vaughn, this ride’s unique combination of track-based movement and robotic arm technology marks a major breakthrough in theme park engineering.

“Usually, we keep the technology hidden so guests can focus on the storytelling,” Vaughn explained. “But in this case, the technology is the story, so we’re making it a key part of the experience.”

Downey Jr., who will reprise his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man for the attraction, visited Walt Disney Imagineering and noted how much the robotic arm resembled DUM-E, Stark’s beloved assistant from the Iron Man films. Imagineers took inspiration from his comment and integrated that detail into the ride’s final design.

While an official opening date has yet to be announced, construction is well underway.

Star Wars: Millennium Falcon – Smugglers Run Update

A new mission is coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, inspired by the highly anticipated film The Mandalorian & Grogu. The updated experience is set to debut on May 26, 2026—the same day the movie hits theaters.

Jon Favreau, creator of The Mandalorian, joined Disney Imagineers Leslie Evans and Asa Kalama to reveal how the attraction will offer guests an adventure that parallels the events of the film.

“Bringing a major film and a ride expansion to life on the same day is an incredible achievement, made possible through our collaboration across Disney,” Kalama said. “Jon and Dave [Filoni] have been integral in helping us shape this new experience.”

Rather than directly retelling the film’s story, the ride will place guests in a thrilling side mission occurring in the same universe. Imagineers worked closely with the movie’s production team, even capturing footage on set to bring new locations—like Cloud City—into the attraction.

Additionally, Disneyland’s playful BDX droids, a fan-favorite feature, will soon be making their way to Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris. These droids will also make an appearance in The Mandalorian & Grogu movie.

With construction underway and new experiences set to debut in the coming years, Disneyland Resort continues to push the boundaries of storytelling and innovation .
