FDA Issues Risk Alert for Wing Sauce Recalled in 16 States

(Thechieftainspear) –The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has officially classified the Noble Made Garlic Parmesan Wing Sauce recall under a Class II designation, indicating that consuming the product may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects.

Background on the Recall

The recall, initiated by Spicin Foods Inc. on February 12, was prompted by customer reports of foaming bottles, raising concerns about potential microbial contamination. While the FDA has not found Clostridium botulinum—the bacteria responsible for botulism—within the product, the recall remains a precautionary measure due to the risks associated with microbial growth.

Why It Matters

Clostridium botulinum thrives in low-oxygen environments, such as bottled sauces, and produces botulinum toxin, which can lead to serious health issues, including paralysis, breathing difficulties, and even death.

The FDA classifies botulism as rare, with only around 10 outbreaks per year in the U.S., typically linked to improperly canned or preserved foods. Symptoms can appear 18 to 36 hours after exposure and may include:

  • Muscle weakness
  • Difficulty swallowing or breathing
  • Double vision
  • Abdominal swelling and constipation
  • Paralysis

What Happens Next?

If anyone experiences symptoms of botulism poisoning, they should seek emergency medical attention immediately .
