T-Mobile Data Breach Settlement: Customers May Receive Big Payouts

(Thechieftainspear) – Customers affected by T-Mobile’s massive 2021 data breach will finally begin receiving settlement payments next month as part of a $350 million class action agreement reached in 2022.

The lawsuit stemmed from a cyberattack in August 2021 that exposed sensitive data belonging to 76 million customers, including names, addresses, and Social Security numbers. While T-Mobile did not admit to any wrongdoing, the company agreed to the multimillion-dollar settlement to resolve the claims.

After years of legal proceedings and administrative delays, the settlement administrator has confirmed that payments will be distributed starting in April 2025.

Who Is Eligible for a Payout?

All 76 million customers impacted by the breach were notified of their eligibility in 2022. However, given the time that has passed, many may have lost track of their claims.

The amount each person receives will vary based on documented financial losses tied to the data breach:

  • Reimbursement of up to $25,000 – Those who provided proof of fraud-related expenses, such as identity theft recovery costs or credit monitoring fees, will receive the highest payouts.
  • Cash payments of up to $25 – Customers who did not claim specific financial losses will still receive compensation, with California residents eligible for up to $100.

Will Everyone Get the Maximum Amount?

Not necessarily. The settlement fund also covers legal fees, administrative costs, and millions of claims, meaning final payments could be lower than the estimated amounts. Past settlements have resulted in much smaller payouts, sometimes as little as a few dollars per person.

If you are unsure about your eligibility or have questions, you can contact the settlement administrator online or call 1-833-512-2314 for assistance .
