(Thechieftainspear) – Dollar General has announced plans to shut down 96 stores across the United States during the first quarter of fiscal year 2025. The decision was revealed in the retailer’s March 13 earnings report, which evaluated store performance for the quarter ending January 31. CEO Todd Vasos emphasized that while the closures represent a small fraction of the company’s overall footprint, the move is aimed at strengthening its ability to serve customers more effectively.
At this time, the company has not disclosed which stores will be affected. Earlier in January, Dollar General had already closed 27 locations and initially planned to open 575 new stores in 2025. However, given the latest developments, the status of those expansion plans remains uncertain .
