Los Angeles(Thechieftainspear) –Los Angeles police arrested rapper Jay Rock on Thursday evening, according to official records.
Jay Rock, whose legal name is Johnny Reed McKinzie, was stopped by LAPD officers around 6 p.m. The reason for the initial traffic stop has not been disclosed.
Authorities say the 39-year-old artist attempted to flee from his vehicle after officers refused to explain why he was being detained. During the incident, a firearm was reportedly left behind in the vehicle.

Jay Rock was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of a felony weapons violation.
The rapper is best known for his work with Top Dawg Entertainment and collaborations with fellow artist Kendrick Lamar. In 2019, he won a Grammy Award for his song King’s Dead and was later honored with the key to his hometown of Watts.
