Felon Caught Traveling Through California with Cocaine, Guns, and Ammo

A convicted felon was arrested in Humboldt County on December 21 after authorities discovered multiple firearms and a significant amount of drugs in his vehicle. William Lavon Pree, 43, from Antioch, was traveling between Southern California and the Bay Area when law enforcement agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF) stopped his vehicle in Loleta, located on Highway 101 at Hookton Road.

Pree, a convicted felon with a history of violent crimes, including attempted homicide, had been under surveillance. Authorities were aware that he planned to purchase and transport a large quantity of narcotics for distribution. Upon stopping Pree’s vehicle, agents found three other occupants: 48-year-old Josephine Lucy Daniels, also from Antioch, and two children aged 5 and 17.

A search of the vehicle yielded over 450 Xanax bars, half a pound of cocaine, a loaded 10mm Glock handgun, a 9mm ghost pistol equipped with a Glock Switch (a device that allows the firearm to shoot automatically), additional ammunition, high-capacity magazines, and a digital scale.

The children were safely removed from the scene, and both Pree and Daniels were arrested. They were booked at the Humboldt County Jail on a range of charges, including possession and trafficking of narcotics, possession of a machine gun and assault weapon, possession of a loaded firearm, and illegal firearm possession within a vehicle.

Pree faced additional charges for being a felon in possession of a handgun and ammunition. The HCDTF continues to investigate the case, and the children were placed in a secure location away from the scene.
