California (Thechieftainspear) – A convicted murderer already serving life in prison for a quadruple homicide in Los Angeles County is now suspected of killing his wife during a conjugal visit late last year, according to prison officials who spoke with The Los Angeles Times.
David Brinson, now 54, was sentenced to life without parole for the 1990 execution-style killings of four men in a Los Angeles apartment. At the time of the crime, the 23-year-old Brinson had attempted to rob retired tavern owner Robert Marks, 59, under the mistaken belief that he was a major drug dealer. Brinson, along with two accomplices, stormed into Marks’ Mid-Wilshire residence seeking cash and narcotics but found only a small quantity of marijuana. Witnesses at trial recounted how Brinson then forced Marks and three other men—Gene McCullars, 28, Celedino Ligtas, 33, and William Terry, 27—to lie face down before shooting them one by one. The victims had reportedly gathered at the apartment to watch a basketball game.

Brinson had been serving his sentence at Mule Creek State Prison in Amador County when the fatal incident involving his wife occurred. Conjugal visits, officially called “family visits,” take place in designated on-site housing units and are limited to immediate family members such as spouses, children, and parents. These visits typically last between 30 and 40 hours.
Authorities say that around 2 a.m. on November 13, 2024, Brinson alerted prison staff that his wife, 62-year-old Stephanie Brinson, had become unresponsive. Despite attempts to revive her, she was pronounced dead just before 3 a.m.
Amador County District Attorney Todd Riebe confirmed that Brinson was responsible for his wife’s death and stated he is awaiting further details from the prison’s investigation before proceeding with formal charges.
Following the incident, Brinson was transferred to the California Health Care Facility in Stockton, a prison specializing in inmates with severe medical or mental health conditions .
