14 Louisiana Children Missing in 2024: Your Tip Could Bring Them Home

On Christmas Eve, many children eagerly anticipate the gifts that will come down the chimney from St. Nick. Yet, there are children across the country who are simply hoping for the possibility of going home—many of them are trapped in the horrific cycle of human trafficking.

The rise of human trafficking and the sex trade continues to devastate lives, and the statistics paint a grim picture. According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), 1,453 children have gone missing in 2024 alone. Their website, missingkids.org, features countless pictures of children who have vanished, many of whom may never be found without the help of vigilant individuals.

The NCMEC plays a critical role in providing resources for missing child cases. They work closely with missing child clearinghouses across the country, offering training, technical assistance, and vital resources. These clearinghouses play a key role in networking, data collection, and supporting law enforcement agencies to locate missing children and victims of sexual exploitation.

Of the 1,453 missing children this year, 14 are from Louisiana, with two from North Louisiana: one from Ruston and one from Shreveport. As we celebrate the holidays, please take a moment to look at these faces. If you recognize anyone, immediately contact 911. Your call could make the difference in saving a child from a life of unimaginable suffering.
