(Thechieftainspear) – A 46-year-old anesthesiologist accused of attempting to kill his wife made his first court appearance following his recent arrest in Hawaii, authorities confirmed.
The alleged incident occurred on March 24 around 10 a.m. along a popular Oahu hiking trail, according to multiple reports.
Alleged Assault on Hiking Trail
Arielle Konig, 36, told investigators that her husband, Dr. Gerhardt Konig, suddenly became violent, striking her in the head with a rock and attempting to push her off the trail after she declined to take a photo with him, according to The Daily Beast.

Witnesses on the trail called 911, prompting a swift emergency response.
Victim Hospitalized in Critical Condition
Emergency responders found Arielle with severe head and facial injuries, according to Hawaii News Now. She was transported to the hospital in critical condition, though her current status remains unclear.
Authorities launched a six-hour manhunt for Gerhardt, ultimately tracking him down near Pali Lookout after a brief foot chase. Honolulu police took him into custody without further incident.
Community Shocked by the Arrest
The couple, who reside in Maui, are well-known in their community. Gerhardt worked at Maui Health as an independent contractor but has since been suspended amid the ongoing criminal investigation. Arielle, per her LinkedIn profile, has a background in nuclear engineering.
Several acquaintances expressed shock over the violent allegations, describing the news as unexpected.
Court Proceedings and $5 Million Bail
During his court appearance, prosecutors outlined their case against Gerhardt, and a preliminary hearing was set for March 31, according to CNN.
His bail was set at $5 million, as authorities continue to investigate the case.
