Southern California(Thechieftainspear) – A 65-year-old Los Angeles woman is facing multiple felony charges after authorities uncovered over $350,000 worth of stolen merchandise in a large-scale retail theft operation, police said.
Retail Theft Investigation Leads to Major Bust
Law enforcement officers executed a search warrant on March 5 at a business near 6th and Alvarado Streets, across from MacArthur Park, as part of an ongoing investigation into organized retail theft.
The shop was identified as belonging to Blanca Escobar, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Stockroom Packed with Stolen Goods
Inside the store, police found an extensive stockroom packed with stolen merchandise, neatly stored on shelves.
Photos from the scene showed a wide range of stolen items, including:
-
Beauty and skincare products
-
Healthcare items
-
Clothing and sneakers
-
Tumblers and accessories
Authorities said the merchandise was stolen from major retailers, including Target, CVS, Walgreens, Macy’s, Ross, TJ Maxx, and Kroger.

In addition to the stolen goods, illegal slot machines were also discovered on the premises.
Escobar Faces Felony Charges
Due to the sheer volume of stolen items, police had to rent a U-Haul truck to transport the evidence.
Escobar was arrested at the scene and later charged with eight felony counts of receiving stolen property worth over $950 and one misdemeanor charge related to illegal gaming, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced on March 27.
Prosecutors also allege that the crimes showed a high level of planning and sophistication.
Prosecutors Take a Firm Stance
L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman emphasized the importance of cracking down on retail theft in the area.
“This case is a crucial step toward improving safety in MacArthur Park, a community that has struggled with crime for years,” Hochman said. “My office is committed to working with law enforcement to combat organized retail theft and ensure criminals are held accountable.”
Court Date Set for May 22
Escobar, who remains out of custody, has been ordered to appear in court for her arraignment on May 22.
If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of eight years and six months in prison.
