Suspect Hospitalized After Deputy-Involved Shooting Near West Hollywood Mall

(Thechieftainspear) – A deputy-involved shooting near a busy West Hollywood shopping center led to significant road closures Saturday evening as authorities responded to a domestic violence incident.

Incident Unfolds Near Santa Monica Boulevard

Around 6 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were called to an area near Santa Monica Boulevard and La Brea Avenue following reports of a domestic dispute. A woman at the scene alleged that her ex-boyfriend attacked her before chasing her into a nearby alley. A bystander alerted law enforcement, leading to a confrontation that resulted in deputies shooting the suspect.

The wounded man was rushed to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition. Officials have not disclosed the specific events that led to the shooting.

Large Police Presence and Street Closures

Authorities blocked off roads near the West Hollywood Gateway Mall, located on the 7100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, for over five hours as they launched an investigation.

“I heard helicopters and sirens, so I stepped outside to see what was happening,” said Ryan Edler, a local resident. “This area is a major hub for walking and public transit, so this will definitely have an impact.”

No deputies were injured during the incident, and officials urged the public to avoid the area while investigations continued late into the night.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), any deputy-involved shooting that results in injury triggers multiple independent investigations.
