Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Man in South Los Angeles

South Los Angeles(Thechieftainspear) – Authorities are searching for a driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run that claimed the life of a man in his 60s in South Los Angeles.

The fatal collision took place on February 24 in the Vermont Vista neighborhood. According to police, the victim was crossing Figueroa Street near 104th Place at around 7 p.m. when he was struck.

Surveillance Footage Captures the Incident

Video footage from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) shows the man pushing a walker or small cart as he carefully makes his way across the road. With no crosswalk in the immediate area, he pauses in the middle of traffic as cars pass by.

At that moment, a white compact sedan, which had been waiting to turn left from 104th Place, suddenly accelerates and crashes into him. The impact throws the man onto the vehicle’s hood before he lands on the pavement. The driver never stops and speeds away from the scene.

Victim Succumbs to Injuries

Emergency responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived and transported the victim to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, he did not survive. His identity has not yet been released as authorities work to notify his family.

Police Ask for Public’s Help

LAPD officials urge drivers to stay at the scene of an accident, contact emergency services, and cooperate with investigators if they are involved in a crash.

A $25,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
